A MILESTONE FOR STROKE CARE IN REGION 1

A MILESTONE FOR STROKE CARE IN REGION 1

The Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable: “Towards Integrated Care: A Regional Roundtable Discussion on Stroke Care Pathways” was successfully held in La Union yesterday, complementing ongoing efforts to accelerate the establishment of the regional stroke network.

Convened by the Stroke Society of the Philippines in partnership with UHCWatch, the roundtable brought together government leaders, clinicians, emergency responders, LGUs, health facilities, and the Center for Health Development (CHD) — all united by one goal: a fully functional, coordinated, and responsive stroke care system.

Special shout out to our enthusiastic SSP Stroke Champions from Pangasinan – Dr Ida Tulagan, La Union – Dr Mary Grace Mistica, Ilocos Sur – Dr Godard Artajos and Norte – Dr Rhome Pacis, Woot woot! kudos to you guys!

Together, we:

✅ Strengthened inter-facility and LGU coordination to improve referral pathways and continuity of care
✅ Discussed policy and implementation challenges hindering the operationalization of the network

✅ Secured stakeholder buy-in and commitment to the hub-and-spoke model
✅ Clarified roles, identified gaps, and mobilized collective action

Aagyaman to all SSP Chapters in Region 1 and all our partners who showed up, spoke up, and stepped up for every Filipino stroke patient.
